Install OpenOffice from a CD

  1. Insert CD in computer. (The “Installation Wizard” appears) Click Next

  2. Read the license then select “I accept the terms in the license agreement”. Click Next

  3. Enter a user name. (normally your name) Make a choice under “Install these applications for”. Click Next.

  4. Select Complete. Click Next.

  5. Under “File Types: Select the file types that OpenOffice.org 2.0 will automatically open. There are 3 choices (Microsoft Word Documents, Microsoft Excel Spreadsheets, and Microsoft Power Point Presentations.)

  6. IF a check-mark IS NOT placed in the boxes, Microsoft Office will be used to open a Microsoft Office document.

  7. IF a check-mark IS placed in the boxes, OpenOffice will open Microsoft files into the OpenOffice file format. Microsoft Word and Microsoft Office will open Microsoft files into the Microsoft file format. (if you double click on a Microsoft file, the Microsoft file will open in the OpenOffice format. If you are not aware of this, you can mistakenly assume that OpenOffice has taken over the Microsoft files on your computer) More information is available in our tutorial "Working with Microsoft Word files".   8. Click Next. Click Install (Wait for a message “Installation Wizard Completed”.)  Click Finish.
